To reiterate the disclaimer on the homepage: I am not endorsing that any readers harass or otherwise contact Quais Naimul Hassan, II, the various OSU administrators responsible for this mess, or any other individual listed on this website. But as with most profit-seeking institutions, bringing lasting reform to OSU’s Title IX processes will require extensive public scrutiny and the threat of financial loss.
You can help with the former, at a minimum, by sharing this website, my story, and the lessons to be drawn from it. Never in a million years would I have expected to be retaliated against for defending myself in such clear and obvious terms; hopefully in sharing this information we can give other victims the knowledge to exercise proper caution and skepticism when dealing with OSU and other universities.
Please like, comment on, and reshare any/all of these social media posts:
While the Department of Education and the Ohio Civil Rights Commission have already launched investigations over this case, and those investigations will almost certainly result in findings against OSU, there are limitations to the remedies that these agencies can enforce anyway. The timeline for them doing so is also uncertain, as federal investigations typically take years.
Therefore, I intend to pursue this case in court. In addition to getting justice from OSU, there is a serious opportunity here to set legal precedent that protects victims of gender-based violence at other schools as well. This case could succeed where cases like Sanchez v. Brawley Elementary School District failed in codifying self-defense as a “protected activity” under Title IX, because this harassment was unquestionably “severe, pervasive, and objectively offensive” and my attempts to escape (not to retaliate) met all requirements of honest, common-law self-defense.
There is a GoFundMe set up to both help me recoup the debilitating debts/damages already incurred during this ordeal and to invest in this future legal battle. With the threat of a potential defamation suit by my ex now on the table as well, acquiring legal funding is paramount. While I know mutual aid can often feel like society’s most marginalized passing the same $20 bill around, if you feel able to contribute please do so.

If you happen to know lawyers who do this kind of work in Ohio, or happen to be legally inclined yourself, I can be reached at aboardmanpublic@gmail.com for inquiries and offers of support.
FInally, I would like to encourage grassroots/student organizing around this issue. If you’re a university student and your university doesn’t have a clearly written policy affirming the right to self-defense, please consider reaching out to student orgs about this issue, writing to your administration, agitating amongst your fellow students, and organizing demonstrations to raise awareness. I am neither the first nor the last person to be screwed over by Title IX offices prioritizing the letter of policy over justice in an effort to minimize institutional liability, but through collective struggle we can ensure that there will be a last.
